Abyss Eye price drops! Storm Emeralda to blame?

Abyss Eye prices have cooled off the past week or two. Mega Darkrai ex was going for six figures in yen for the gold MUR on launch day, and it's come back down since then. A few things are driving that, not just one.

Some of it is normal. Launch day prices are always inflated because everyone's after the chase card before supply catches up, and once real pull rates get out there and boxes hit the secondary market, prices settle down to where they actually belong.

Another reason for the drop is the latest set, Storm Emeralda releases in Japan on July 31st, and it's got Mega Rayquaza ex, which people have been talking about since the trademark leaked last year. Money is already moving toward preordering that instead of chasing Darkrai.

Pitch Black is also a cause of the drop in price. It's the English version of Abyss Eye dropping July 17th. Once US collectors can pull Mega Darkrai ex without paying for import shipping or dealing with yen conversion, some of the demand that's been propping up JPN singles and sealed product is going to move over to the English version instead, especially on the expensive cards.
